Guidelines for keeping your Swell account secure
The following guidelines can help protect your sensitive data and communication channels by preventing unauthorized access to your Swell account:
Enable multi-factor authentication
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a second form of verification in addition to your password. Swell supports MFA via authenticator apps and text message (SMS) codes. By enabling MFA, you significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access. Learn more in our article: Secure your Swell account with multi-factor authentication.
Will I have to enter a code every time I log in?
No, verification codes are required only infrequently. They are more likely to be required if you log in from a new device or an unfamiliar network.
Avoid sharing your login with other users
It may be tempting to share your login credentials with colleagues for convenience, but this practice can jeopardize the security of your account. Instead, ensure each user on your team has their own Swell login. There's no seat limit for Swell accounts, so you can create as many logins as you need. See our article Adding and Removing Users for more information.
Use a long, unique password
Aim for a password that is at least 12 characters long and includes a mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special symbols. Use a different password for every account you have online. Avoid using easily guessable information, such as birthdays or common words.
Never share your password
Your password is a personal key to your account and should be kept confidential. Do not share it via email, text, or any other means, even with trusted individuals. Swell support staff will never ask for your password.
Use a password manager
Managing multiple complex passwords can be challenging. A password manager securely stores and encrypts your passwords, making it easy to generate, retrieve, and use strong passwords for different accounts. With a password manager, you only need to remember one master password, while it handles the rest, significantly enhancing your security and simplifying your online experience.
